Merry Christmas To EVERYONE

Well Denise, Andrew and I are in wonderful San Diego with her folks. 75 degrees today. The waters receded before we showed up just a bunch of debris in the roads. Thought I would post our Christmas Card pics and a couple bonuses.

I hope everyone enjoys and stays safe through the Holiday Season.

Greta's Last Day and Off to Oregon

So as I write this I am packing up foe the trip back to Oregon with Greta. We will miss her especially Ashley who has grown to love her Baby G. As we head to Oregon and told of impending doom of snow storms, we travel with 2 things t do. We will be staying with Tom and Carolyn (2 bottles of wine packed). We will also be going with Carolyn up to Roseburg Sat and Sun for a show. I was hoping to be away from Harvey and slick and know that at least Slick with be there both days. Megan will be coming down on Sunday to help show Greta and take her back home. Greta did decide to leave us with something and decided to come into heat on Wed/Thurs. My home has now become a wayward point in which I can allow puppies in and help to show. Hint Hint maybe Summer in the Spring. So wish us safe travels and good showing. Here is my favorite pic of Greta we have from her visit. Megan already got it but I wanted to share with everyone.

Onward to Dixon

So just a few notes. Don't try to groom 2 dogs while watching the World Series. Plus doing it inside in the bath tub and an indoor table. Got it all done but should have started a lot sooner. It is really amazing how they are brother and sister and have two completely different coats. Captain's gets fluffy and Greta just looks great. On a side note her hair is coming back good and with the morning groom I am hoping her chest will look a lot better. Go chicken and missing link.

So tomorrow will be the first time I will be showing 2 dogs at the same time. Of course Greta is in Open Bitch while Captain is in BOB. My dad will be traveling with me and will take Greta back into the ring when she takes Winners Bitch. That way he doesn't have to try to put Cappy up on the table. So here is the following for this weekend. Can always check in in the late part of the day on infodog.com for results. I will be tweeting and FB as we go.

Friday Northern CA Herding Group Assoc.

8:30 ring 6 count is 4-6(3-0)-1 There are 30 dogs before we go in.

Saturday and Sunday Sacramento Vallejo Dog Fanciers Assoc.

Sat 9:00 ring 6 count is 4-6(3-0) There are 12 dogs before we go in.

Sun 9:00 ring 3 count is 4-5(3-0) There are 13 dogs before we go in.

Weather forecast is for few showers Fri/Sat with rain showers Sun.
Hopefully it won't be as bad last weekend. It could go a more North as it goes.
Look Out Southern Oregon.

On a Great Side note Archer is hopefully showing up tomorrow. The is the plan for now. Lindsey is bringing him by so he can get use to the show grounds and dogs. I am hoping to work with him a little and of course play. Might be able to get a picture of the 3 too.

That's it for now wish the puppies luck.

Dog Show Woes

So today finished my first weekend showing Greta. She was class 2 on Thurs, Class 1 and Reserve Fri and Today. She loves to show and really loves to stand and bait just like Cappy. She was a little hard on the table and is a little reluctant to have her teeth shown so I will be working on the table this week. We have a little run in with upset tummy and she lost more coat from being nervous and illness. She seams naked almost. I am trying my best with grooming and poofing up her chest.

Today though was the worst day I have had to date showing. We showed in the rain. Greta is used to indoors but she is moving well on grass. The other contender today was the wind. It was blowing at us with the rain and Greta didn't like the table to almost the end. In the pictures the canopy we are under I was told later blew apart and had to have people hold until repair during the Pems showing.

Next up is Cappy and Greta next week Fri, Sat, Sun in Dixon then 2 weeks later in Napa.

Before going in you can't tell the Wind and Rain but it was there.

Is it my turn yet?

Finally calmed down on the table

Wet grass isn't too bad

Greta and Halloween

Thought I would get a consensus of what people thought about Greta and a Halloween costume. Since Malibu loves to get into the spirit we had some old costumes. Isabel's pick is the fairy princess with wings. Cappy was thinking he could be Darth Vader and the girls could be Princess Lea and slave Princess Lea. Also in the hunt is Batman, Supergirl and Wonderwoman.

Greta the Visitor

So after having a good weekend in WA, I returned home with Captain's sister Greta. We are hoping over the next month and a half to get her as finished as possible. Greta will be shown 3 days in Pleasanton then shown 3 days in Dixon with Captain and then 2 days in Napa with Cappy too. Greta is doing as well as possible. She settled in great and then after ruff housing with Cappy and Malibu seemed to hurt herself and didn't want to get off her rear end. After seeing our vet and talking to both Megan and Mandy we felt it was just soft tissue . Once she rested the full day yesterday and had some Rimadyl you would never know the scare she put us through. Today she is back to being Greta but I will be limiting her activity for the next week so she will be good as new for the shows. Ashely has taken a strong liking to Greta who she calls G or Little G and wants to keep here. Here are a few photos. On a side note we get to meet Traci tomorrow as we will be meeting up with Alden for a little Napa Valley wine tasting.

Washington Specialty and Show

So we are on our way home from Washington. We had a blast meeting everyone. Got a few of those he looks better than in his pictures. (Captain not me) HE showed well both days but he is still young and will look even better with age. HE did not make the cut either day but that is OK. After a good table lesson today from Mandy and actually doing well he looked really good today and as we had to split the BOB class due to too many of us, girls first then the guys. Carolyn said she heard quite a few of those comment s you like to here. Were is THAT BLUE GUY FROM, so I am happy. On a side note someone is on the way home with me and Captain. That would be what for it, what for it. Sister????????? Greta. I am bringing her t=home to show a little bit. She will travel with us to San Diego in 2 weeks but too late to show then will be back to show all 3 days in Dixon Halloween weekend and then 2 weeks later in Napa. Hopefully we can get a few more points and a major for her. Wish her luck. Sounds like my dad will be going to shows with since he would need to show Captain if Greta does well. Well night night from Salem and will be back home tomorrow.

Vallejo show update with a question?

So yesterday was nothing. Today was a whole new story. SO here is what happens and lets see you can figure the points. After watching the judge do the pems before hand was strange. During breed after looking at everyone she went to her book and marked down and the steward told everyone the ranking including a select. SO here we go. He had 2 class dogs 5 class bitches, 1 veteran dog, then in breed we had 3 dogs and 1 bitch that moved up yesterday. The judge was very thorough on the table then had you do a triangle in stead of down/back. Then once breed was done she handed out BOB/BOS/BOW and didn't say any selects so Slick's handler McFadden took off and I followed and then the steward said hold on for select so only myself and the veteran went back. Slick long gone a and the new champion bitch didn't come back in and Captain was awarded select. So my understanding is that if you count the veteran and the new champion bitch I should have a 3 point major for grand champion, otherwise I think it is 2 points but none the less points this time. Harvey did take breed both days and Slick took select yesterday. SO next up is the trip to Washington. Getting excited. Can't wait for the feedback from the above and Kelly said she will be up in WA with Harvey. See you guys soon.

Reno Show and Daily Corgi

So We are back from Reno sorry for the slight delay. Captain once again took select from Harvey who went on to another group 1 and then BIS under Steve Gladstone. I did get great remarks from both judges each day. The second day she liked Captain's front. Still working on getting his ears up on the table. Massaging them when we are lounging and I need to Practice, Practice, Practice. Also today Captain was featured on The Daily Corgi (thedailycorgi.blogspot.com) Great pictures and captions plus a few extras thrown in. Here are some pics from Reno. Next show will be a few weeks in Vallejo.

Reno Day One

So today we showed and the count was 0-2(2-0). Both of the bitches did not show so it was Harvey vs Captain. Harvey took breed but Captain was given Select. The whole time I watched the judge with previous breeds she never handed out a select. So for Cappy second time showing in BOB he now has a select. Harvey went on to take a Group 1 under judge Gladstone. He was here he was just asked to switch up breeds. I did get a change to say hi. He was a great guy. So tomorrow is another day and another judge. Captain has grown up and can hold his own against Harvey. He is now the size just not as broad of a chest. HE did great in the ring and his ears are doing great. I am getting better on the table and now need to work and moving him a little bit faster. Will let you know about tomorrow. On a side note Denise had technical difficulties so no pics today. I did take a select picture not sure if I will get it though.

Reno Shows

So we are here in Reno for the Reno Kennel Club Show. We show tomorrow and Sunday. Sat time of 10:00 and Sunday time of 10:30. Same count for both days. 0-2(2-0). Thought there would be a little more entry but you get what you get. Steve Gladstone was suppose to judge tomorrow but he was a scratch. Understandable that he scratched. I was really hoping that neither Slick nor Harvey would be here but just saw Harvey in the lobby. Cappy has grown up a bit and is looking great. He had a great time at conformation class this week to refresh but seemed like the Champion he is. Wish us luck and will blog/twitter/and facebook tomorrow and should have pictures. Since we are in Reno Denise thought it would be nice to come and the craps tables were a calling.
