Santa Rosa Day 4 Mensona KC

Big news Captain got his second Major today taking class one then Winners Dog. Nothing else in breed but that is fine since I show against Harvey all the time and he is hard to beat. WE decided yesterday and today to not feed Captain in the morning so he was wanting the bait much more. This brings him to 9 points total with 2 different 3 point majors under 2 different judges. Now it is time to hack away for the next 6. The next set of shows will be Oct 10/11 in San Diego , Oct 17/18/19 Pleasanton, Oct 23/24/25 Dixon. Then I am contemplating going to the Eukenuba Cup in December for the specialty and show. I have family there so since it is open to all could be fun.

Santa Rosa Day 3

So back at it today with a 8:45 start. Cappy took First in class against 1 other dog. The other 2 puppies were one withdrawn and the other moved to bred by due to bred by comp today. Winners dog went to an open dog and with his 3 point major finished. I was very happy for them. We are back tomorrow at 8:00 and hope to get the points.

Sanata Rosa Day 2

So we progressed today with a class 1 over the same dogs. 4 puppies in all, the only thing was one was excused but I think he should have stayed in he was just a puppy and with not a lot of ring experience yet. We did not take winners dog went to an open dog as did the open bitch. It was a puppy day also but Cappy was beat out by a 6-9 bitch. I was happy over all and if things go well in progressions we should get WD tomorrow. We show at 8:45 first in. Will tweet and blog tomorrow. We will also be meeting up with Alden and the gang before they head to the beach. Denise will be there with camera so hopefully we will get some good shots. Cappy definitely likes mornings better. I think I won't feed him until after the show to see if he wants the bait more. My father's suggestion.

Santa Rosa Day 1

Today was day one of four here in Santa Rosa. We had 4 puppy dogs in 9-12 month today the most ever I have seen so far. They hopefully will all be there the next three days. Then there were 2 dogs in open. Unfortunately we were three of four in class so nothing today. I am not disappointed today as I felt Captain did well. We were first in and I thought he was bright. On the table the judge wanted a good head look with ears up which of course Captain didn't do well. I felt he moved well in the ring but that is life. Plus we showed at 2:30 and I can tell now that he is just not into the afternoon times. Thankfully we show in the morning the nest three days at 10:00, 8:45, and 8:00. Denise should be there on the weekend for some pics. Oh and tomorrow is also a puppy show so I hope he will be at his best. Will let you know more tomorrow evening. ;o)

Captain Questions and Show Updates

So I am asking for advice and probably just need to wait but I felt if I asked I would be put at ease or get answers. I am happy with Captain's ears and no they do not need to be tapes again but I wish they would he would keep them up more and not laid back. My experience with Malibu since she came home her ears were always up and she only turns them sideways to hear things. As you can see I bought Captain a nylabone chew which he is loving. I was hoping this would help to develop his ears more and I thought I saw on Showcardi some one talk about supplementing with vitamin c but could not find it in the archives. I think they said it would help with the cartilage. I know with time his ears should be fine but I don't know how to get him to keep them up in the ring when he wants to lay them back a lot. They naturally lay down when he goes around the ring but I have a hard time getting him to put them up when he stops. He seems to do better in the morning then the afternoon. On that note he shows this week and weekend Thursday thru Sunday in Santa Rosa. Thurs at 2:30, Fri at 10:00(also puppy show), Sat at 8:45 and Sunday at 8:00. As of now all for days are at a 3 pint major if all dogs show up. So any suggestions are very welcome and if I am over reacting just let me know. Enjoy the pics of Cappy with his new nylabone.

Mutt-Lynch Winery 2

So we met up with Alden and her family. So Captain got see to Fig for the second time in a week. Plus Duncan and Malibu were there too. Here are a few pics. The plus was afterwards my family went to the Rutherford Grill for lunch/dinner which has the best french dip in the world. They are dog friendly and Captain and Malibu were a hit with people waiting for tables.

Mutt-Lynch Winery

We are off to Mutt-Lynch winery today. I will be traveling with my lovely wife Denise, my father and mother, and of course Captain and Malibu. ML is having their annual Dog Days of Summer open house in which the show off their new wines as well as old. Plus all proceeds go the the Healdsburg Humane Society. We will be meeting up with Alden and her family as well as Fig and Duncan. Will take pics and post later. Have a great Saturday.

Dixon Day 2

Today was Day 2 a different judge. I almost had a heart attack because they changed judges and yesterday's judge and the new one had the same first name. I almost packed up and went. Captain took 1 in class and that was all. I really thought he was going winners dog she kept looking at him. He didn't want to do too much with his ears today but that was the story for almost all of them. I was very glad to beat the dog in class. Same age some color. He had beating us twice in Woodland our first weekend and then again yesterday. That puppy took a group 2 with the pem group 1 in the puppy show. I should have had it that puppy had not grown well since that first weekend with an upward topline towards the rear. So all in all I am happy with the weekend and the next show should be a four day starting on Aug 20 in Santa Rosa. Will keep you updated. I am thinking of going to Eukanuba but would love to go finished. Plenty of shows to get there. I forgot to bring by reference papers to join the parent club when I went to see everyone in OR. I need to get on that. Talk soon. Sorry no pics Denise is in San Diego with her folks.

Dixon Day 1

Well today was the Richmond Kennel Club show in Dixon. We showed at 12:30. the count was suppose to 6-4(1-0). the 2 open dogs were a no show so that put the point down to 2 unless you beat the special. It was also a puppy show and today was Captain's fist time in 9-12. First of he only took a class 2 of 2. I was very displeased with the judge as were a few others. My father and myself couldn't figure out what she was looking for. Once we thought we figured it out she went in another direction. She eventual put up a 12-18 bitch for breed over Harvey the special who normally wins and places in group. He is much better put together than the bitch. I did notice that the judge almost wanted nothing to do with Captain as she stood back and looked at everyone on the table and let them go around after the up and back but she went right at Cappy before i even had his front paws down and then had me go to the end behind the other puppy in front of me without letting him go around the ring. There is more but I don't want to rant that much more. I will definitely not show in front of her again. The only thing worse was the steward who did not know what she was doing. She had to be told multiple times by the judge about taking away and placing back the table. So hopefully tomorrow will be a better day and at least I will take defeat if I can tell what the judge wants. Will tweet and post tomorrow no pics sorry.
